InterLibrary Loan
What is it?
Interlibrary loan is a service to obtain materials not available in your local collection. Requests may be made to obtain books from other libraries nationwide. Requested items may include books, journal articles, microforms, videos, etc. All materials are obtained within the guidelines of copyright legislation.
Who may borrow or request materials?
Texas A&M University - Central Texas current students, faculty, and staff.
How many items may I borrow?
TAMUCT students and staff may have up to 20 items borrowed on their account at one time. TAMUCT faculty may have up to 50 items borrowed on their account at one time.
How do I get my items?
Most journals articles will be available via the internet. You will be sent an email with a link for access. If you prefer, articles and loan materials can also be shipped to your campus. Simply choose your campus location & delivery method on the User Information page pull down menu in ILLiad.
How much does it cost?
There is no cost for TAMUCT's ILL Service. If loaning libraries charge fees, you will be notified to determine if you wish to pay these additional charges. You are responsible for all interlibrary loan charges including fees for overdue or lost materials. Effective September 1, 2009, the library will charge $1.00/day late fees for overdue ILLiad materials.
How long will it take?
Expect to wait between 1-2 weeks, and plan your research accordingly. Patrons will be notified if we are unable to locate requested items.
How will I know when items are received?
Patrons are notified by email or may check their ILLiad account. Requested items are sent to the campus indicated during ILLiad registration, or delivered electronically.
What may not be requested?
Most libraries will not lend entire periodicals, rare or fragile materials, reference books, recordings, videos, and other audio-visual materials.
How long may I keep borrowed materials?
The usual loan period is 3 weeks, however, there may be variation from loaning library to library. Due dates will be clearly marked on each item. Patrons may request renewals through their ILLiad account or by contacting the ILL Office (library@ct.tamus.edu, 254.519.5798).
